Njegov glavni cilj je bil okrepiti kibernetsko odpornost dr\u017eav \u010dlanic EU z imenovanjem operaterjev bistvenih storitev in predpisovanjem protokolov za kibernetsko varnost, pri \u010demer je zlasti poudarjal poro\u010danje o incidentih kot klju\u010dno za\u010detku je postalo o\u010ditno, da se izvajanje direktive med dr\u017eavami \u010dlanicami zelo razlikuje, kar je povzro\u010dilo razdrobljen sistem. Nekatera podjetja in organizacije so v nekaterih dr\u017eavah veljale za bistvene, v drugih pa ne.<\/p><p>Da bi to re\u0161ila, se je Evropska komisija odlo\u010dila revidirati direktivo NIS, da bi natan\u010dno razmejila zajete organizacije in njihove zahteve.
